Episode 017: The Seastar of Supply Chain Presidency & Overcoming PPD: Leticia Baca

Supply Chain President

Leticia Baca is an incredible woman. Not just because she is the President of Lakewood Organic Juices, or a wife and mother of two who accomplished such high corporate accomplishments. She is incredible because she has persistence and a mindset that isn't afraid of stepping back to go even farther forward. When she found herself pregnant with her second child, she wasn't provided for by her employer like in her first pregnancy. The need to work through her postpartum set her off into a depression that she wasn't sure how to shake. But through her willingness to believe in herself and work with professional coaches and the twisted mental healthcare system, she made it to the other side. Professionally, she's always taken risks and they paid off. Listen to her journey with Mel and find that sometimes not wanting what you're being offered, even though everyone else says it's what you should do, is the best thing for your career. Depression is treated as almost cosmetic health - as though it is an option, Leti tells us. The culture shaming on mental health checks is something Mel is also passionate about. Some epic other quotes from her here were;

"If you’re not sitting at the table, you’re on the menu." Leti

"You need to create systems that work for you." Also Leti's wise advice on how supply chain management can apply to our lives as well.

Leticia has founded Sisterology with her sister who also happens to be her best friend. Sisterology is a lifestyle brand that uses a mix of ethically sources, USA Made and fair trade products in a market place and is a network of sisters to support and empower women. A real Seastar group in our opinion!

Leticia recommends reading Avoiding a supply chain apocalypse, Emotional Intelligence Daniel Goleman, and Radical Candor by Kim Scott. Mel suggested Radical Forgiveness by Colin Tipping.
