Episode 23: The Seastar of Tech Law & Relentless Entrepreneurialism; Leila Banijamali
Tech Lawyer & Civil-Tech Start Up Founder
Leila Banijamali is a tech lawyer (her firm focuses on SF Law & Real Estate Brokerage Bedrock SF), she is a relentless entrepreneur, explorer, surfer, and chaser of big dreams. She is the CEO of Symbium Build which is a computational law company that is currently focusing on helping home owners and small business owners navigate complex zoning regulations and the local rules that govern what can be done with a piece of property. Her background is complex and full of achievements. With the direction [and pressure] of her parents, Leila got her law degree instead of becoming a graphic artist. In hindsight, she is grateful that she did this, because now she can do as much graphic design as she wants, but from her CEO role at her company or firm. Among her intellectual talents, she has been a recording artist, a gallery owner, and wonderful friend. California residents will learn a few things in this podcast for sure! Her ability to be a power female who has not only her own law firm but a start up that is helping people and revolutionizing computational law, is really on another level inspiring!
Mel and Leila have been friends for almost two decades. They met in San Francisco and have stayed in touch over the years, even with Mel's running all over the globe and Leila's relentless entrepreneurialism. Mel finds out some new things (that she should have known!) about Leila, and Leila flips the conversation on Mel a few times! We are hoping Leila will join Mel for many more conversations as she is a wealth of knowledge and ideas!
Leila's book recommendations are The Startup of You - Reid Hoffman, Measure What Matters - John Doerr, and The Insanity of Advertising - Fred S. Goldberg. On these topics, Mel suggests The Lean Startup as well. Try using Overdrive to read for free. All you need is a library card!
